The Gulf Cooperation Council region spans multiple UTM zones. Most projects use WGS84 with local UTM projections.
| Zone | EPSG | Coverage |
|---|---|---|
| 37N | 32637 | Saudi Arabia, Parts of UAE |
| 38N | 32638 | Eastern Gulf |
| 40N | 32640 | Qatar, UAE |
| 41N | 32641 | Eastern UAE |
Primary Standard: WGS84 (EPSG:4326)
Most modern projects across the Gulf use WGS84 as the geographic reference, projected to local UTM zones.
Gulf engineering and GIS projects often cross national and UTM zone boundaries, so CRS selection must be confirmed before merging survey, CAD and GIS files.
| Zone | EPSG | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| 37N | EPSG:32637 | Western and central Saudi Arabia |
| 38N | EPSG:32638 | Eastern Saudi Arabia |
| 39N | EPSG:32639 | Qatar and nearby Gulf |
| 40N | EPSG:32640 | UAE and Oman-side Gulf workflows |
Coordinate Transformation EPSG Library DXF to KMZ
For cross-border Gulf work, split large datasets by CRS zone where needed, document transformations and keep original coordinates in the project archive.
For Gulf regional work, keep a CRS register in the project folder that records source CRS, target CRS, transformation date and exported format for each file conversion.
