CSV to SHP Converter Guide

Convert a CSV of survey points to a zipped Shapefile (SHP, SHX, DBF, PRJ, CPG) in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Input

A CSV with a header row and one point per row: a name or code, X / Easting / Longitude, Y / Northing / Latitude and an optional elevation.
After you pick the file, map the columns and choose the source coordinate system. The page proposes columns and a CRS from the values; check them.
A CSV exported by GeoCAD Bridge (with __geometry) is read back with its lines, polygons and attributes.

Output

A ZIP with SHP, SHX, DBF, PRJ and CPG files in the output coordinate system you choose.
Attributes go to DBF fields in UTF-8 (Arabic kept). DBF limits names to 10 characters; geocad.gcbdata in the ZIP keeps the full names and types.
Elevations are kept as point Z values.

Workflow

Choose the CSV file.
Map the X, Y and elevation columns and confirm the source CRS.
Choose the output CRS.
Press Convert. The Shapefile ZIP downloads.

FAQ

Which columns does the CSV need?

A header row and X and Y columns (easting/northing or longitude/latitude). Name, code and elevation columns are optional.

How is the source coordinate system chosen?

You choose it in the column dialog. The page suggests one from the coordinate values, but never applies it without your confirmation.

Is there a converter for the other direction?

Yes, the SHP to CSV converter writes every Shapefile feature to a CSV table.
